THE local government council chairmen who served under the administration of the former Ekiti State governor, Mr. Peter Ayodele Fayose, have frowned at the lingering political crisis in Ekiti State, putting the blame on the bad leadership of the incumbent governor, Engr. Segun Oni.

The group, led by Mr. Bamitale Oguntoyinbo, former chairman of Oye Local Government, who met at Igede Ekiti on Wednesday July 23 2008, said that the political crisis was embarrassing, unfortunate and posed a great threat to the existence of the PDP in the state.

They blamed Governor Oni, alleging that the crisis, which began with his administration, was a direct consequence of Oni's victimization and marginalisation of the entire structure of PDP under Fayose and his determination to rubbish the founding fathers and legitimate members of PDP in Ekiti State.

The chairmen claimed that the party witnessed a steady progress under Fayose's administration, adding that almost 18 months of Segun Oni's administration, local government election could still not be conducted in the state.

The former chairmen also alleged that Gov Segun Oni has refused to pay the severance allowance of all the council chairmen and political appointees that served under Fayose administration, claiming that other states in the South-West have fully paid these entitlements to the former political office holders.
They, therefore, called on the PDP leadership in the South-West to intervene so that PDP does not lose its grip on Ekiti State due to bad leadership of the governor.
Meanwhile, a former commissioner of the state Universal Basic Education (SUBEB), Mr. Richard Apolola, has asked the state Election Petition Tribunal to deliver judgment without delay on the governorship election petition before it.

Mr. Apolola who claimed that the termination of Segun Oni's administration would bring peace back to the state said that the last general election in Ekiti state was a monumental fraud.
Apolola who was a PDP governorship aspirant in 2003 in the state implored the tribunal members to dispense justice without fear or favour, adding that the whole world was waiting for them.
