P.M.News gathered that the monarch was invited to the Homicide Section ‘D' Department of the FCID with a letter dated 21 July, 2008 with reference number CR:000/X/HCD/Vol.8/2, to report on Tuesday 22 July, 2008.
In the invitation letter signed by CSP Rex Dundun, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police (Homicide Section, FCID), the monarch and others were invited over a case of murder, malicious damage and breach of public peace.
The letter further instructed that 'on arrival, contact the O/C team one, SP. Okpako Omudhowo."
Yesterday when Oba Ojoijo and others invited arrived at Alagbon at about 12.45 p.m., they were quizzed over the Ayobo mayhem that led to the death of at least five persons and were directed to make statements to that effect.
Police sources informed P.M.News that the monarch, who reported alongside the former chairman of Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA, Prince Bisi Yusuf and some other community leaders, did not leave the FCID, Alagbon until 7.30 p.m.
According to our source, the oba was instructed to produce other community leaders who were allegedly involved in the 10 July, 2008 mayhem on Thursday (today) to enhance investigation.
The Alayobo of Ayobo was, however, granted bail on self recognition with the promise to comply with the police directive.
P.M.News reliably gathered that the invitation of the oba and the others was in response to a petition by Chief Morufu Owonla (a.k.a. Kaka) alleging that Oba Ojoijo and Prince Bisi Yusuf among others fueled the Ayobo mayhem.
The petitioner was said to have stated in his petition that his effort to make peace between the Oba and the community leaders on one hand, and Chief Arimiyau Bello-Ekundayo (who won a land case) on the other hand, backfired against him as his property was destroyed.
He also alleged that the killing on Thursday 10 July, 2008 was perpetrated by the monarch and community leaders who armed the youth of the town with dangerous weapons.
P.M.News learnt that the case which is now being handled by the State CID, Panti with some people arrested and already taken to court for alleged murder is to be taken over by the FCID, Alagbon.
Our source at Alagbon hinted that the FCID had already commenced the process of transfer of the case while still carrying out its independent investigation.
