The Lagos State Action Congress(AC) primary elections for the 2008 local government polls, have been scheduled for Saturday 9 August, 2008 and will be conducted through open ballot system.

According to a statement by the state chairman of the party, Otunba Henry Oladele Ajomale, on the guidelines for the selection of candidates, all aspirants contesting the primaries 'are deemed to have accepted the guidelines and other relevant rules and all the decisions of the party which shall be binding on them."
Among other things, aspirants for the posts of chairman and councilor must be registered financial members of the party whose names are contained in the party membership register for at least six months before nomination.
Besides, a councillorship aspirant must duly complete nomination form supported by 10 financial members who must be registered voters in his ward. And an aspiring chairman must also submit completed nomination forms supported by 20 financial members who must be registered voters in each of the existing wards in the LGA.
The release further stated that the aspirant for the post of councillorship shall be 25 years and above, while a chairmanship aspirant shall be 30 years and above.
The release enjoins any member of the Executive Committee of the party at any level, who wishes to contest in the primaries, to resign his/her position on or before 30 days before the primary election. The council polls is scheduled for 11 October, 2008.
