It was a pitiable sight this morning at Bale Street, Nuru Junction, Olodi Apapa, when an unidentified father of a suspected robber watched as a mob beat his son and later set him ablaze.

The father wept and tried to prevent the mob from setting fire to his son, but all to no avail. The boy was set ablaze along with two others caught by a vigilance group in the area.

Efforts by P.M.News to get the identity of the weeping father and the robbers proved abortive as the mob refused to entertain any enquiry from our reporter. But a resident in the area gave their names (suspects) as Ade and J.J.

Another resident identified the suspects as Uzor boys, saying that they had been terrorising residents of the area for a long time.

The suspects were said to have robbed a businessman at Gbadesere Street. The businessman, it was learnt, had just returned from abroad. Sources told P.M.News that the suspects stormed his house around 2 a.m. today and attacked him.

Luck ran out on them when the victim succeeded in alerting the local vigilance team in the neihgbourhood. Led by an OPC activist, they were arrested and tied up till this morning when the men were subjected to questioning by a mob which had gathered.

They were beaten mercilessly and later set ablaze before the arrival of policemen from Olodi Apapa. Policemen who came from the station told P.M.News that they have begun investigation into the matter.
