The Paramount ruler of Remoland, Oba Michael Sonariwo, has cautioned members of the Ogun State House of Assembly not to disrupt what he described as the finest hours of his people since the creation of the state threatening that the lawmakers would be lynched by the people of the state.
The Oba spoke last Saturday in Sagamu during the turning of the soil of a 18,000 capacity and the 6,000 permanent site for members of the National Youth Service Corps in the state.
Oba Sonariwo who described Governor Daniel as ‘our own' added: ' If the lawmakers still continue with their trouble, the people of the state would not hesitate to lynch them".
The visibly angry traditional ruler further said: ' we are appreciative of what you have done for us. We appreciate all your works. This small turbulent problem you are having. I want you to know that the whole of Remo are opposed to what they are doing.
Continuing, he said: ' It's no threat, if they continue, If they are lynched don't be surprised. We have appealed to them and we hope they will allow the governor to have
peace of mind to complete his job."
Turning to the Deputy Governor, Alhaja Salmat Badru, the Oba said: ' I thank his deputy who has been making the governor‘s work go on smoothly"
But Governor Daniel who sensed the import of the statement of the Remo monarch responded swiftly that the trouble in the state was over and did not call for such a drastic measure.
Said Daniel: ' May I just tell Kabiyesi that our lawmakers are now behaving very well and we do not need to lynch them. We are now brothers and doing our best to contribute to the development of the state"..
Meanwhile, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Tunji Egbetokun, has attributed the recent crisis with the executive arm to what he described as communication gap adding that the crisis had been resolved amicably.
Egbetokun who spoke with journalists after a closed-door meeting with Governor Daniel and members of the House to the Government House, Oke-Igbein, Abeokuta late last Saturday said the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state was one united family adding that the party would continue to close ranks and shame their detractors.
On the stadium, the Remo monarch said it had been the long desire of the Remo people to have an international stadium and expressed gratitude to Governor for making the dream of the people come through.
His words: ' Today I'm happy this ceremony, particularly as it happens during my own time. The governor as a true son of Remo knew what he wanted and I am happy at the occasion. I have always told people that this is our finest hours. We have our own Governor. We are very grateful to you. This is definitely our finest hour.
The Akarigbo assured that the Remo people would continue to be appreciative of what the governor has been doing in the state. 'We appreciate all your work and we shall continue to pray for you.
In his speech, Governor Daniel said his administration was not preparing 'only for today, but for tomorrow too".
He assured that his administration would continue to provide opportunities for youths 'for which sports and sports development has become a major factor. It is my hope that with this facility, our state will continue to rank among the best, if not the best in the country.
Daniel who did not state the cost of the projects also told the gathering that the near-completion Ilaro International Stadium built by his administration would be ready for inauguration in a few months. 'It is very instructive to remind us that our government is pro-active in nature.
He expressed delight that two weeks ago 'our national team defeated their Senegalese counterpart on our own soil (Abeokuta) by 2-0. You are probably aware that the International stadium at Ijebu is being chosen b y the FIFA for one of its next international tournament".
