Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, on Friday commissioned the traffic gridlock improvement location on the outer Marina to link Ahmadu Bello Way with a warning that the state would no longer tolerate any act of irresponsible driving and flouting of traffic rules along the axis.
Fashola who spoke at the ceremony that took place at the new car park, Onikan, added that with the completion of the project, the state government has successfully removed the worrisome gridlock which some commuters have often used as an excuse to drive against the flow of traffic.
The governor, who defied a mid-morning downpour to perform the commissioning, said that apart from the project, the state government has also improved the traffic on the right turn at the descent of the Five Cowries Bridge to ensure a smoother turn to accommodate the heavy vehicular movement down the bridge which hitherto had been hampered by the sharp edge at the descent.
Said he: "In furtherance of this noble objective, the state has approved the improvement of the following gridlock locations: the right turn at the descent of Anthony Bridge into Ikorodu Road by Town Planning Way, Ilupeju, the former Toll Gate in Ikosi -Ketu, Junction improvement along Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way: and construction of additional road to the Michael Otedola Estate underpass"
