The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Thursday in Abuja quizzed a former Minister of Aviation, Dr. Babalola Borishade, and an ex-Director-General of the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency , Mr. Roland Iyayi.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Thursday in Abuja quizzed a former Minister of Aviation, Dr. Babalola Borishade, and an ex-Director-General of the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency , Mr. Roland Iyayi.
The duo were subjected to another round of interrogation on their roles in the alleged mispplication of the N19.5bn Aviation Intervention Fund.
The action which lasted about three hours, occured barely hours after Borishade, Iyayi and another former Minsiter of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, were released from the commission's custody on Wednesday.
An Abuja Chief Magistrate's Court where they are being tried in connection with the misuse of the N19.5bn, had ordered their remand in EFCC's custody, pending its ruling on their bail applications.
Although the court admitted them to bail on Monday, the accused had to remain in the commission's custody till Wednesday when they perfected the bail conditions.
Investigation by our correspondent revealed that on their arrival at the EFCC's office in Wuse, on Thursday, Borishade and Iyayi were driven to one of the anti-graft agency's offices in Asokoro, opposite the Delta State Government House.
A source claimed that a hot exchange of words ensued between members of the commission's special task force investigationg how the N19.5bn was spent and the lawyer to Borishade, Mr. Olumuyiwa Akinboro.
The source said the argument was caused by the operatives insistence that only Borishade and Iyayi should go into their interrogation rooms.
It was gathered that the task force led by one Sanda, eventually had its way by interrogating the former NAMA chief while Borishade took his turn after.
Our source claimed that Fani-Kayode, who was also driven to the Asokoro office of the commission, was told that he would be summoned if necessary.
All the accused were asked to drop their telephone numbers with the task force, before they were allowed home.
