An armed robbery gang onThursday killed two mobile policemen and four civilians at Nimo, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, a witness said.
An eyewitness account told the News Agency of Nigeria that the gang ran into a Police check-point and opened fire, killing four civilians and two policemen.
Those killed by the robbers' bullets included a woman trader, a bus conductor and two other unidentified passers-by, the witness said.
The eyewitness said that one of the robbers was also gunned down by the Police but that the gang managed to pick up the corpse and escaped towards Neni in Anaocha Local Government Area.
The robbers abandoned a Nissan sports utility vehicle and a Volkswagen Jetta car with registration numbers CY 471 LSR and EF 787EKY respectively, at the scene.
