He maintained that there was nothing wrong with the former President occupying the position.
Oke, who spoke at an event where he provided free medical care to his constituency and other projects, also dismissed the rumour making the rounds that the position of the Speaker of House of Representatives is being threatened over some allegations.

The federal lawmaker described the agitation for Obasanjo to relinquish the BOT position as a non-issue and that the idea has never crossed the minds of members of the party in the South West zone and even other party members.
Oke, who is the House Committee Chairman on Defence, said the BOT position is enshrined in the PDP constitution, noting that the former President is qualified to hold the position.

His words: 'There is no reason to bother about the agitation. It is in fact a non-issue at all. Based on PDP constitution, he is most qualified to hold the BOT chairman position."
On the current undertone to remove the House of Representatives Speaker, Dimeji Bankole, Oke said his leadership of the Lower House was not being threatened.

He challenged the media to expose those spreading the rumour of the purported crisis in the House of Representatives, saying 'we have no problem with the leadership in the House. My Speaker is in charge and the rumour is unfounded."

On the Niger Delta crisis, Oke, who represents Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency, said the activities of the militants with their foreign backers were a threat to exploration of oil in the area and foreign earning of the country but however backed the agitation for 25 per cent derivation by the Niger Delta people.
He contended that the real Niger Delta leaders were not behind the current crisis in the area and fingered external influence, which he alleged supply the arms to the militants.
