The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC] has arrested Femi Martins, Ibrahim Dumuje and one other individual over their roles in the Police Equipment Fund [PEF] scandal. Particularly, the arrest was made for their misappropriation of the N50billion raised on behalf of the PEF. The trio according to information received by Ukpakareports.com stated the three individuals were picked up in Abuja. The identity of the third individual picked up by the EFCC could not be ascertained by the time of this publication. The arrest which came on the evening of June 18, 2008 saw the tell-tell signs of what the new EFCC may resemble under the leadership of Mrs. Farida Waziri.
Ukpakareports.com through authoritative sources within the corridors of power in Abuja gathered that the arrest of the trio was based on two separate petitions received from two entities namely, the Integrity Group International Nigeria and from the Sultan of Sokoto. It is recalled that the Sultan of Sokoto was a member of the board of directors of PEF prior to pulling out. According the source, the Sultan of Sokoto wrote in his report that the trio of Femi Martins, Ibrahim Dumuje and the other individual took the PEF as 'father Christmas" - distributing vehicles to their friends and well wishers via the PEF.
Ukpakareports.com was able to confirm the arrest via the head of media operations in EFCC in the person of Femi Baba Femi.
