Police get 3 new DIGs, 4 AIGs


A gale of promotion swept through the top echelon of the Nigerian Police yesterday as the Police Service Commission announced the elevation of three Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG).

A gale of promotion swept through the top echelon of the Nigerian Police yesterday as the Police Service Commission announced the elevation of three Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG).

Four Commissioners of Police (PC) were also promoted to the rank of AIG in the move that also affected 23 Deputy Commissioners and 34 Assistant Commissioner.

The new DIGs are Mr. Yusuf Haruna, Mr. Gasali D. Lawal, and John H. Ahadu while the new AIGs are Mr. Richard N. Chime, Mr. Kevin O. Opoke, Mr. Sarduana Abubakar and Mr. Audu Abubakar. All promotions are to take immediate effect, the Police Service Commission said in a statement, signed by Permanent Secretary, Garba Buwai.

Promoted from the rank of Deputy Commissioner to substantive Commissioners are Onuoha Uka Ude, Ibrahim Abdu, Sule Mamman, Adisa Baba Bolanta, Yakubu A. Alikali, Samuel Dahunsi, Umar D. Sa'adu, Mohammed J.Gana, Sueiman A. Abba and Bala M. Nassarawa, Sabo Ringim Ibrahim, Emmanuel O. Ayeni and Abdullahi Fana Salisu.

Also among the new police commissioners are Musa A. Daura, K.C. Kaiso, P.U. Gana, Ibrahim Chafe Mamman, Salihu Argungu Hashimu, Jacob E.T. Oshinomogho, Marvel Akpoyibo, Johnson Usen, Stephen Dienye Hart and Augustine Obaedo.
