Dr Saraki in a condolence message to the family said the demise of the business mogul and pillar of Islam had created another big vacuum that will be difficult to fill. "We received the news of his death with shock. He was a great patriot and philanthropist who had contributed immensely to improve the lives of the less privileged. His wise counsel would be missed by all, " Saraki said.
In the same vein, immediate past governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, has described the death of Alhaji Wahab Iyanda Folawiyo as a great loss to the nation. Chief Ibori, who made this observation in his conutry home in Oghara, Delta State, said Folawiyo was a man of rare qualities, which made him a distinct Nigerian.
Muslim personalities and organizations on Sunday continued to mourn the passage the foremost philanthropist, Alhaji AbdulWahab Iyanda Folawiyo who, until his death on Friday morning was the Baba Adini Musulumi of Nigeria.
The Nasru Lahi Li Fathi Islamic {NASFAT} group and the Muslim Community of Oyo State in separate condolence messages recalled the philanthropic activities of the deceased in his lifetime and noted that the local Muslim world has indeed lost a rare gem.
NASFAT through its Oyo state chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen Aknbode stated that the philanthropy of Folawiyo was second to none among the Muslims and non- Muslims alike.
'Nigerian Muslims is yet to witness another relentless and cheerful giver like Folawiyo since the death of Alhaji M.K.O. Abiola. We are pained with the news of his passage but we take solace in the fact that he ahs gone to rest.
The Muslim Community through its Media Relations Officer, Alhaji Zakariyyah Kunle Sanni said that the deceased name would forever live in the minds of indigent Muslims especially students who had enjoyed his scholarship.
Sanni urged other wealthy Muslims who are still living to emulate the good deeds of Folawiyo and strive to etch their name in gold in the hearts of poor Muslims rather than embarking on thankless money spinning at social functions.
The Muslim Public Affairs Centre, MPAC, in its condolence described Folawiyo as one of the conscientious Muslim leader who lived a life of dignity and honour by diligently pursuing his passion of serving the Muslim community, promoting Islam, and supporting the under-privileged.
