The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) at the weekend reacted to reports that the organization has serious leadership crisis, explaining that there is no split in the leadership of the organisation.
According to MASSOB Regional Administrator, Comrade Eze Calistus, as far as MASSOB under the leadership of Chief Ralph Uwazuruike is concerned, there is no truth in the statement of one Mac Davis as published last week."
Calistus explained that MASSOB did not abandon any of its member in detention as claimed by the same Mac Davis.
He said on May 15, 2008, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike and 10 others who have been standing trial over allegation of treason, which Uchenna Madu was among were granted bail by Appeal Court.
In the said report, Mac Davis said he was resigning because MASSOB leader, Chief Uwazuruike had compromised the struggle and betrayed the group.
He had specifically accused Uwazuruike of fraternizing with the Federal Government, which he alleged enabled him to get bail and abandoned over 130 members of the group being detained by the law enforcement agencies.
But Comrade Calistus refuted the above claim and reiterated that there was no split or compromise in MASSOB, insisting that Mac Davis, had been sacked since two years ago because of anti-MASSOB activities.
He said: 'Mac Davis problem started early 2006 when he and some other members of the movement and other sacked members went to some in East and accepted to be used as political thugs which he argued ran foul of the tenets and principles of MASSOB. 'So when MASSOB leadership discovered their activities, they sent proper investigation officers to find out the truth. After finding out that really, they had deal with politicians, MASSOB leadership sacked him and others. He was sacked not resignation," he declared.
