The police in Sokoto State have arrested 43 persons in connection with the religious clash in various parts of the state.
The police in Sokoto State have arrested 43 persons in connection with the religious clash in various parts of the state. The 43 people were identified as belonging to various Muslim rival groups fighting in the state.
Various items belonging to members of the public have been recovered from those arrested. Some of the suspects have confessed that they were engaged in violent activities in the state as well as snatching cars across the country.
The police have however, appealed to the pubic to remain calm and promised to bring the situation under control. Meanwhile, the religious crisis has paralysed social and economic activities in the state.
According to the police, more people involved in the riot are being hunted for, while those arrested would subsequently be charged to court.
