I want Yar'Adua removed by Supreme Court - Lawal Kaita

Former old Kaduna State governor, Alhaji Lawal Kaita, says that his blood relationship with President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua notwithstanding, one thing he earnestly prays for is that God will use the Supreme Court to nullify the latter's election.

Former old Kaduna State governor, Alhaji Lawal Kaita, says that his blood relationship with President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua notwithstanding, one thing he earnestly prays for is that God will use the Supreme Court to nullify the latter's election.

Kaita, a chieftain of Action Congress (AC), who spoke with Daily Sun in an exclusive interview, said nothing would gladden his heart more than God answering his prayers on Yar'Adua's election.

'I expect the Supreme Court to nullify his election. He is my blood brother, but that has nothing to do with party politics. So, I am praying earnestly that his election should be nullified by the Supreme Court because he didn't win the election," the former governor stressed.

He explained that his prayer is not an indication that he has any ill-feeling towards Yar'Adua but based on his belief in justice and fairness, adding, 'God himself abhors injustice, that is why I take this case to Him in prayer because He is the only one that can uphold justice."
While reviewing the performance of President Yar'Adua in his first year in office, Kaita said there is nothing on ground to record as the administration's achievement.

According to him, 'there is nothing visible for anybody to see. He may be planning his development strategy, but for now, there is still no road, no power, everything stands still. So, nothing to show, nothing to assess but he says he is planning."

He said, however, that President Yar'Adua is not someone who can be used or guided by anyone.
'I often laugh when I hear people say so so people are the ones advising Yar'Adua to take certain steps or decisions. One thing I know for sure is that he is a man of his own, nobody can toss him around, he has his own mind. So, people misunderstand him on that," he stated.
The former governor said on-going probes of some activities of the Olusegun Obasanjo administration were in order, adding that the former president should be brought to book if he is found to have misapplied public funds.

'Obasanjo should be made to face the music if he is found to have allowed public funds to be stolen or diverted to other ventures other than that which they were meant for," he stated.
Speaking on the controversy over the appointment of Mrs Farida Waziri as chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Kaita said there was no need for the controversy, since the matter is a constitutional one, adding that it was allowed to get to this point because of vested interests.
