Senate proceedings was yesterday stalled for almost an hour following the appearance of the embattled Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello at the Senate after 44 days in self exile.

Senator Obasanjo-Bello who arrived the chambers at about 10:40 a.m on Thursday when the Senate President, Senator David Mark and all other principal leaders of the chambers were already seated, made the solemn and calm chambers rowdy due to uncontrolled excitement from colleagues.

The Senate, which ought to have commenced proceedings in its chambers by 10 a.m, according to Senate rules, started work at abut 10:55 a.m.

Senator Obasanjo-Bello representing Ogun Central Constituency and chairman, Senate Committee on Health is standing trial over N10 million unspent budget funds belonging to Health Ministry.

Dressed in a native attire with cream colour head-tie and a pair of shoes to match, she sought the permission of the president of the Senate to expressed her gratitude to her colleagues for their concern during her absence and travail.
She expressed gratitude to the Nigeria Police for their courtesy during the short period of her stay in their custody. She also extended thanks to the opposition part of the society for their critical views.

The daughter of the immediate past President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was seen discussing in groups with her colleagues in low tones after the Senate sitting, while her colleagues listened with keen interest and sympathy.
