The recently retired director general of the Nigeria Television Authority, (NTA), Dr. Tony Iredia, has received plausite from President Musa Yar'Adua .
The recently retired director general of the Nigeria Television Authority, (NTA), Dr. Tony Iredia, has received plausite from President Musa Yar'Adua .
In a letter of commendation, the president, through the Secretary to the Federal Government, Ambassador Babagana Kingibe, commended the Edo State born broadcaster for turning around the fortune of NTA during his tenure as director general.
The president particularly noted the deployment and management of digital and satellite technology which enabled NTA to have worldwide audience as a major breakthrough during Iredia's era, an achievement he enjoined the retired broadcaster to see as a professional pride.
Not done with praising the Iredia's initiative at NTA, the president also applauded the standard of television broadcasting during his watch which rose to the ' current celebrated level of excellence in management, progamme and variety."
Iredia took over at NTA in 2003, at the height of the station's questionable professional conduct. He turned round the station within weeks in office to the adminiration of the station's critics, winning back both local and international audience for the station.
