We've no hands in Fayose's suspension -Afao Ekiti leaders

The Afao Ekiti leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party have denied their involvement in the alleged suspension of former Governor Ayo Fayose from the party, noting that 'the news came to us as a shock and great embarrassment, as no responsible leader, irrespective of his political party in Afao ward will ever be part of such illegality. The former governor hails from Afao Ekiti.

According to the leaders, in a statement signed by Akinniyi Nathniel, Ogunlade Richard and Jacob Akinwumi on behalf of the PDP leaders, 'Fayose brought life to PDP in Ekiti, not to talk of his Afao PDP ward, where we are prominent leaders."

In an angry reaction to what they described as an illegal suspension, the leaders reminded that 'Ekiti was purely an AD state before the advent of Fayose," noting that 'he symbolized the party and performed in office creditably well. He is our benefactor and remains a rallying point for us. How can we sign for the suspension of our own son? Whatever Idle hand that Fayose adversaries found useful for this dirty job are on their own. Fayose is an asset in Ekiti PDP. Any attempt to suspend Fayose portends danger and failure for the PDP in the state."

Distancing themselves from the purported suspension, the leaders declared: 'We hereby disassociate ourselves from the purported suspension of the former governor which can not stand the test of time. We are however not unaware that some political jobbers in our community, whose stomach is their life, will always be available for any dirty job with Fayose's political adversary, but they are on their own as they do not represent our community and interest."

They, however, cautioned: 'Our advice to the people after Fayose's life and political future is to stop such ungodly acts as they are unsuspectingly attracting more public sympathy and in turn making him more popular. Fayose will remain not only the issue in PDP, but Ekiti politics and any group who rejects Fayose will be rejected by Ekiti electorate.
