The President of God's Kingdom Society, (GKS), Brother O. E. Aighalua has enjoined people the world over to look to God for help and succour in the face of the global food crisis which phenomenon he said was one of the signs of the last days, which would culminate in the close of the age.

In a statement in Salem City, Warri, the Church headquarters, Brother Aighalua, who spoke of the need for people of God to remain faithful to him both in times of prosperity and adversity, quoted the words of God through his servant David in Psalm 33:18, 19 to wit 'Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine."
Stating that the last days is a time when many people would be extremely selfish, lack natural affection or conscience, a time of constant friction between the government and the peopl and frequent natural disasters, the GKS President called for prudent management of available resources to avoid waste and hoarding so that more people can benefit from what is available.
He believed that the devil, the enemy of God and man, is using all the forces at his command to put the nations of men in distress knowing that his end was near, even as he regretted the food riots in Haiti, Egypt, Somalia, Mali, Senegal, Ivory Coast and Guinea among other places which have prompted several countries to place an embargo on the export of wheat and rice. Already the U.N. World Food Program has cut food rations to millions of displaced people in Sudan 's Darfur region because so many food convoys have been hijacked.
He cited as example of the dilemma facing the governments of the world the decision of governments of the US, Europe, China, Japan and other countries commit themselves to getting 10% or more of their automobile fuels from ethanol which could be made from maize, sugar cane, palm oil and oil seed .
But this 'global green rush", described as one of the greatest shifts that world agriculture has seen in decades, has resulted in soaring food prices which have eroded the purchasing power of the common people thus placing them at greater risk of hunger and malnutrition
Stating that African countries will be worst hit by the current food crisis, he believed the effect would be mitigated if they embraced Christianity, which stresses hard work, truth, honesty, justice, and love for one another. He maintained that only Christian ethics would save the continent from the scourge of Aids, war, corruption and other evils.
