A Permanent Secretary in the Bayelsa State Ministry of Sports, Dr. Peter Singabele, has said that the league would end honourably if the board of the Nigeria Football League (NFL) would put their feet down and follow the laid down rules in the two remaining matches of the season.
Speaking to Leaguemania in Calabar, Singabele said he has been satisfied with the way the NFL has been making our league better, but warned that some unscrupulous elements had remained in the plot to discredit some clubs.
He, however, cautioned club officials to pursue their dream with dignity because those who enter through the backdoor would always be thrown out through the same door.
"I am happy with the way the league is coming to an end, but the sad thing is that some clubs have become so desperate. If a team want to win the league shield, they have to start from day one, not when the chips are down.
"The NFL in their wisdom should monitor the two remaining matches closely to ensure that nothing funny would happen at the end of the day because we are tired of having champions who eventually end up as whipping boys in the continent. If the real champions emerge by the end of the day, everybody will be happy, but when you have fakes coming out as champions it is misery all the way.
