Man U face Hammersí hurdle

Only two more games are left before it is good night to the Premiership season. But for league leaders, Manchester United and their eternal challengers Chelsea, the battle for the soul of the league has just begun.

Both are tied on 81 points, but United are an inch ahead on account of their superior goals difference. And so, this is not the time to drop a game or split points.

Early this afternoon, United face a tough hurdle against West Ham. For the Red Devils, it is a-must-win-game. And for them to avoid frustration and disappointment, they must harm West Ham and send them back to Upton Park empty handed, while awaiting the outcome of Newcastle versus Chelsea on Monday.

United are in top flight competition mood at the moment. Last weekend, they lost 2-1 to Chelsea in a high pressure Premiership tie at Stamford Bridge. But they bounced back to edge out Barcelona 1-0 at Old Trafford to set up an explosive UEFA championship final clash with their nemesis, Chelsea.

Sir Alex Ferguson need to organize his side mentally and take the game beyond the Harmmers. On the surface, this is one game that ordinarily must go to them. But there is no forgetting that West Ham are no push-overs.

Manager, Alan curbishley has brought a significant turn around to the team. They are placed 10th on the table having effectively steered away from the drop zone. With their placement on the table, they have nothing to play for. But because United are involved, they may prefer to spill blood at Old Trafford.

They have a modest side and have played some descent football in recent times. They have Ghanaian defender, John Painsil. He would be working extra hard to repel rampaging Cristiano Ronaldo. They have got Fedrik Lymgberg and Nolberto Solano in the midfield and the likes of Craig Bellamy, Henri Camara and Fredie Sears in the attack. These are players the United side will neglect to their peril.
