Thugs, believed to be working for some land speculators, killed two people on Tuesday as they struck in Iyesi, Badagry Local Government Area of Lagos State.

The duo, Paul Agosu and Yedenu Vodonu, were shot by the thugs around noon, as the parties in the land dispute were billed to meet the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Panti.
Daily Sun learnt that two feuding groups, were said to have engaged themselves in bitter struggle over the control of some parcels of land in the area recently.

This, it was learnt, informed the writing of a petition to the Special Fraud Unit (SFU) and the CID by one of the parties in the dispute.
Based on the petition, the CID was said to have told the warring parties, that they should come to their Panti office on Tuesday.

However, Daily Sun learnt that the CID through some of its men visited the community in an unmarked vehicle on Monday afternoon to inform them that the meeting had been reschedule for Tuesday.
Trouble was said to have broken out shortly after some armed men invaded the community after the police left, as gun men killed two of those loyal to the petitioner, while many were heavily wounded and hospitalized.

Following the incident, many residents of Iyesi were said to have fled the community over concerns for their lives.

Meanwhile, policemen from Morogbo Division have been drafted to the area to maintain law and order.
Daily Sun learnt that the bodies of the dead have since been removed to the mortuary by the police.
