Determined to entrench and perpetuate the shariah legal system in the state, the Zamfara government has converted a popular motel, Kauran Namoda Motel in Kauran Namoda town into an islamic school.

The Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Alhaji Tukur Sani Jangebe also said part of his ministry’s achievement was the conversion of gambling spots into islamic centres.

“Kaura Namoda Motel which was known for gambling and brothel was converted to serve as school after paying the owner the sun of N10 million as compensation .”

He further explained that three cinema houses were purchased at the cost of N32.2million and were converted to islamic centres and state library respectively, all in Gusau, the state capital.
The commissioner revealed that as part of effort to ensure that peace continues to reign in the state, his ministry has through its constant meeting with religious leadres restored religious harmony with different sect of religious leaders in the state.

He informed that during last year’s Ramadan period, a total of over N164 million was expended in feeding the less previleged throughout the 14 loal government areas of the state.
“The state government approved and released the sum N164.894 million which was used for the purchase of Ramadan items and distributed as welfare in the state.”
