The Campaign for Democracy (CD) and United Action for Democracy (UAD) have issued a six weeks ultimatum to the Federal Government to prosecute former President Olusegun Obasanjo and some of his ministers for economic crimes against the country or face mass action.

The two civil society groups gave the ultimatum at a Joint News Conference at the Women Multipurpose Centre in Kaduna yesterday.
According to the Civil Society Organizations, the former ministers to be tried along with the former President are former minister of finance Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, her counterpart in the Education Ministry, Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili and the former FCT Minister Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.

Speaking on behalf of the two civil society organizations, the Deputy President of CD Comrade Bako Abdul Usman and the Deputy Convener of the UAD, Comrade Abdul Yusuf said the ongoing probe of the power sector by the House of Representatives, the N300 million scam at the Health Ministry coupled with the Senate probe of the FCT had exposed the 'sordid dealings" of Obasanjo and his ministers during his eight years tenure.
