A socio-political group, the Ekiti people on the side of history has commended the courage of the principal witnesses in the alleged Ifaki murder cases for their damming revelation and confession as reported in the media.

A socio-political group, the Ekiti people on the side of history has commended the courage of the principal witnesses in the alleged Ifaki murder cases for their damming revelation and confession as reported in the media.
According to a statement by the group, 'this is a rear courage to openly set the record straight. The group believes that this action is not only courageous but has eternal reward on the part of these witnesses.
'The Ekiti people have seen the extent to which people can be wicked and ungodly to hang such serious allegation like murder on innocent people all in the name of seeking power at all cost.
'The most interesting part is the fact that these honourable witnesses are from Ifaki Ekiti the home town of the incumbent governor Segun Oni, who had earlier in a television programme claimed that former governor Ayo Fayose and his aides directly attacked the deceased, late Tunde Omojola, which is now being debunked by the affidavit of these witnesses."
The group also condemned the planned move by the state government to discredit these witnesses who made their declaration on oath.
The secretary of the group, Mr Olaiya Ojo said 'The Ekiti State government is making effort to hire some people to discredit the witnesses.
'If the government or any hired individual has anything to say they should equally go to swear to an affidavit like these honourable witnesses."
Meanwhile, the Director of Publicity and Research of the Ayo Fayose Foundation and Movement (AFFM), Dr. Funso Alarape on Tuesday cautioned Ekiti State government to stop giving the incident leading to the death of Tunde Omojola a political colouration.
He suggested that the state government should have diverted the fund allegedly expended on advertorials placed in national dailies with a view to politicising the death of Omojola to help the family who would appreciate the gesture.
Alarape condemned the alleged decision of the government and its collaborators to play politics with the dead which he described as more disheartening to the bereaved family.
"It clearly shows that Segun Oni's government is jobless and wanting, more so that it was not popularly elected. Besides, since the issue of Omojola is in court, it would have been better to allow the court to adjudicate over the matter," he said.
