An armed robbery suspect paid dearly last Friday when he was stripped, battered and paraded round some busy streets amidst shouts of "Ole, Ole, barawo, barawo" by an irate mob who apprehended him while trying to steal a Toyota Starlet around the Labour Garage in Area One, Garki, Abuja.

Before his latest ordeal, the unlucky crook, Daily Sun learnt, had been in the habit of snatching GSM handsets from his victims at gun-point, "usually at sunset, when people are rushing home after closing from their various places of work and darkness begins to set in", one of the victims, Emmanuel Ikechukwu disclosed.

Daily Sun investigations also revealed that the fair-skinned, six-footer "Area Boy", is one of those notorious gang of purse-snatchers who come to Abuja main city from the suburban Durumi, Karmo, Diye-Diye, Jabi, Apo and Nyanyan shanty settlements, known to be haven for hoodlums who troop into Abuja for "business" on a daily basis.
Lashed and bashed, he was dragged towards the UTC market at Area 7, some police constables hurriedly intervened and took control of the suspect who fell into "a coma", after he narrowly escaped being roasted. The angry youths had got set for action with a gallon of petrol and two worn tyres.

Having confirmed his offence from the driver of the vehicle he pilfered, the three constables bundled the comatose suspect (about 30 years of age), into the car boot and drove-off to the Garki 2 police station.
Certainly not to have a party!
