Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon Sulieman Abdurrahaman Kawu, has said that he expects the various anti-corruption bodies in the country to immediately take over and prosecute the indicted persons, once the current report of the Committee on Power and Steel Ministry is accepted by the House of Representatives.

The legislator, who represents Sumaila Federal Constituency in Kano State, declined to rule out the possibility that at some stage in the entire probe exercise, former Nigeria president, Chief Olusegun Obassanjo may become a star figure in the mismanagement of the huge resources committed to the power sector.
Speaking to Daily Sun in Kano, he declared that the eyes of the whole world is now on President Alhaji Umaru Yar'Adua to summon the courage and insist on the strict observance of the rule of law as regards the outcome of the power sector probe, adding that Nigerians would lose faith in the presidency, if the president attempts to protect Obasanjo or cover up any interest in the whole saga.
'We in the House of Representatives have done our part in the probe exercise.
What would remain is for the president to prove himself. He is the apostle of rule of law. He is the prophet of due process. He cannot afford to do otherwise at this stage," he declared, adding that it must be noted that the president himself, is not exactly comfortable with the waste in the power sector and was himself the whistle blower of the whole scandal in the first place.
The All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) lawmaker, said he is inclined to a similar public probe of the activities of the former administration regarding other relevant sectors of the economy in the past eight years, while expressing delight that some form of review of the aviation sector has been started by the members of the Senate.
He said the ugly revelation from the power sector probe has vindicated most of them who were in the opposition camp and had spent a considerable time criticizing the misrule and wanton abuse of office being perpetuated by the then Obasanjo administration.
'We called him names, we called him a dictator and we said his government was corrupt. At least, now, we are right and vindicated," he offered with firm conviction, stating that 'the present probe exercise and the casualties it would eventually throw up, should serve as a valued lesson to Nigerians, especially those in power that it does not pay to abuse the privileges of ones office."
