Former aide to ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo and leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State, Dr Andy Uba at the weekend denied alleged control of the State House of Assembly.

The former presidential aide also absolved the PDP from having any hand in the alleged delay in the passage of the N84 billion 2008 Anambra State budget.
Uba who spoke in Awka during a meeting with the state legislators said that the state government was only trying to tarnish the image of the party by laying the blame on it.
It would be recalled that reports credited to officials of the state government had it that the House members held a meeting with Uba on how to impeach Governor Peter Obi and to slash the budget into two to ensure that the governor did not perform.
But addressing the lawmakers, Uba said that he has no business frustrating the passage of the budget, insisting that he does not control the legislators over their duties and activities.
Noting that the PDP in the state was still intact, Uba denied the alleged division among the lawmakers over the passage of the budget, stressing that nobody would divide the party in the state.
He accused Governor Obi of merely giving lame excuses for what he described as his failure to perform.
Blaming the state government for the delay in the passage of the budget, Uba accused Obi of merely giving lame excuses for 'his failure to perform."
He, however, urged the government to do its homework very well by critically explaining to the lawmakers, the budget to enable them pass it.
Wondering why the government tries by all means to bring his name in issues he knows nothing about, Uba said, 'it is not true, these are the things opposition do in other to destroy PDP image and my own too. Do you know that up till today, in the Federal Government, when it comes to budget, you have to definitely specify what you are going to do with the money.?
'In legislative functions, when it comes to budget, you have the appropriation committee, people that are supposed to work on it. It has nothing to do with me. My goal is to move Anambra forward," he said.
I have never told any of them to fight the governor on the budget.
'The governor is doing that to show his inability to rule the state. He shouldn't use that as an excuse, all he needs to do is to sit down with them (lawmakers). This is the only state where we have 30 members of PDP, they have never harassed him, and they have never done any thing bad to him to say that they need this or need that.
'In other states, they will remove him as a governor, but we are not interested in impeachment. All we are interested in is for him as the governor to do his work. Let him stop using excuses, every time he is calling my name, calling PDP, every time he looks for somebody to hold on to, for his inefficiency."
