Four more persons, one of them a fake mobile police officer, have been arrested by the Lagos State police command in connection with last Thursday's bank robbery in Dopemu area of Lagos.
They were rounded up after one of the robbery suspects took the police to one of their hideouts.
Police also recovered additional SMG rifle, four locally made pistols, house-breaking and welding equipment, like gas cylinder, used by the robbers during operations.
Daily Sun also gathered that the mobile policeman that was shot during the operation was a fake policeman and was actually shot by the robbers for allegedly giving them misleading information, which resulted in the tragic end of some of the robbers.
Daily Sun gathered that the fake mobile policeman, who acted as informant to the robbers, had earlier carried out investigations about the area and suggested escape route for the robbers, a suggestion that led to their waterloo.
The mobile policeman, who was said to be receiving treatment in one of the hospitals in Lagos, has been arrested when the police confirmed that he was not one of their own but an informant to the robbers.
But the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Frank Mba, could not confirm it as at press time.
It would be recalled that a Lance Corporal, Sunday Agbeja, who was shot during the robbery incident, died at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).
His death was confirmed by the spokesman for the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, Kofo Abayomi, Lagos, Lt-Col Samuel Agbanusi. The robbers had stormed the first generation bank in three vehicles, including a gray Mazda 626 with registration number PJ 122 KJA and a black Golf car marked EL 336 LSR.
The robbery turned bloody when the police, with the help of the members of Odua Peoples Congress (OPC) and resident of the area confronted the robbers, killing four on the spot and arresting six.
Police also recovered unspecified amount of money, arms and ammunition.
