Six people, including four community leaders, have been docked at the Agbara Chief Magistrate Court, in Otta, Ogun State for alleged dissobedience to a court order and breach of peace.
Six people, including four community leaders, have been docked at the Agbara Chief Magistrate Court, in Otta, Ogun State for alleged dissobedience to a court order and breach of peace.
Those facing trial before the trial Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Abimbola, include a prominent traditional chief in the area, Chief Jimoh Busari, Chief Sura Mutiu, Chief Ahmed Balogun, Chief Kabiru Olurin, Wasiu Jimoh and Lukmon Jimoh.
According to the two count charges preffered against the accused pesons by the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, through a police prosecutor, Sergeant Koni Asakpo, the accused persons were said to have dissobeyed an order of interlocutory injunction restraining them from entering a vast land in Ago-Eto, Agbara.
According to the prosecution, a high court in Otta, Ogun State presided by Justice O. A. Onafowokan had on February 14, 2005, restrained some community leaders in Agbara from further building any structure, leasing any portion of the land in dispute, pending the determination of the suit.
The pronouncement was sequel to a motion brought by a party in the dispute, Agbara Estate Limited, praying for an order restraining the leaders, including Chief Abudu Jimoh Busari, O. A. Daramola and Pa Taiwo Agboola, from selling the land.
It was also alleged that the six men unlawfully invaded Agbara Estate Club and chased away the workers.
Following a plea of not guilty entered by the accused persons, the court granted each of them bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in the like sum.
Further trial has been adjourned till April 2, 2008.
