Delta State government has called on investors and the organised private sector (OPS) to take advantge of the prevailing peace and opportunities in the state to invest and create necessary employment avenues to prop up the human resource endowment of the state.

Making the appeal yesterday in Asaba, the state capital, at a pre-trade fair luncheon to herald the state trade fair, scheduled to hold in two weeks time, Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, said the administrtion places much premium on the trade fair as an avenue to exhibit and showcase the investment potentials of the state.

The governor who was represented by his deputy, Professor Amos Utuama, (SAN) called on manufacturers and service providers to take advantage of the trade fair.

In his opening address, chairman of the occasion, seasoned industrialist and administrator, Deacon Gamaliel Onosode in his opening addresss as chairaman of the Delta State Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (DACCIMA), declared: 'Militancy or ethnic crisis is decidedly a thing of the past. Skeptics should at least take advantge of the ceasefire to establish business and enterprise which will in turn produce a harvest of enduring peace.

'Delta State should be a land of peace and plenty and for this expectation to rise above mere speculation, there must be a new commitment to the rule of law on the part of the development process," he said.

He said the state must insist at all times, on getting value for money.
In her address, the state Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mrs Monu Chinwe Olanrewaju, said the purpose of the fair, is to sensitize stakeholders and potential investors in the economy of the state to participate in the forthcoming trade fair schedued at Osubi.

'In some quarters, trade fairs are seen as annual jamboree or marketing ritual of Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture and state Ministries of Commerce and Industry.

The rejuvenated, refocused Delta State Ministry of Commerce and Industry is resolved to put a stop to that notion," she said, adding that the state government is resolved to provide a conducive environment for manufacturers, potential investors, to interact and discuss prospects of investment opportunities.
Speaking also, President of DACIMMA, Mrs. Mary Awhotu Iyasere, encouraged all business minded people to register with the chamber nearest to them , stressing that there are multiple advantages derivable from its membership.
