A man who had been posing as Assistant Superintendent of Police to dupe traditional rulers in Zamfara State has been held by the police. Shortly after he was paraded at the police headquarters in Gusau, the fake officer, Abbas Tukur Isah said he came all the way from Jalingo in Taraba State to dupe some first class emirs in the state, including the Sultan of Sokoto.
Isah, a Fulani, said he went to the Sultan of Sokoto seeking assistance for the family of the late emir of Muri, whom he said was in need of help.

When asked whether he was part of the late emir of Muri's family, he said no, adding that he merely wanted to assist them because of the condition in which they found themselves after the death of the emir.

At the Sultan's palace, Isah was asked to go back home as the sultan promised that he would table the issue before the Jama'atul Nassarul Islam (JNI) and whatever they decided, including the assitance would be forwarded to the late emir's family in Muri.

Then the 30-year-old fake ASP moved to Zamfara, to the palace of the Chairman State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Muhammadu Attahiru Ahmed, the Emir of Zamfara Anka, where he was arrested.
A police corporal attached to the Emir of Anka was the first to notice that Isah was a fake officer when he discovered that he wore the beret of a rank and file, instead of an officer's cap.

Thereafter, the Divisional Police Officer in Anka was notified and his men quickly picked up the fake cop.
In an interview, the State Police Commissioner, Alhaji Ibrahim P. Machi advised people in the state to be wary of who they transact any form of business with.
He added that the 'fake ASP was arrested wearing a Mobile Police uniform.
Machi explained that after investigation, Isah would be charged to court.
