A 30-year-old lady who left home on holy Saturday to spend her Easter holiday with an aunt in Jos ended up as a corpse at Jama'a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, after being strangulated.
A 30-year-old lady who left home on holy Saturday to spend her Easter holiday with an aunt in Jos ended up as a corpse at Jama'a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, after being strangulated.
Hanatu Joshua, a computer student, who was with her parents at Mista Alli Village in Bassa Local Government Area in the outskirts of Jos had left home at about 3.00pm that Saturday and did not return on Sunday as expected.
On Easter Monday when her parents still did not see her, they became apprehensive and therefore sent her sister to go to Bukuru to make enquiry.
On getting to Bukuru, the sister discovered that Hanatu was never there, and on hearing the news, the parents decided to report the incident at the Mista Alli Police Post.
Daily Sun learnt that while a search was being conducted, words got to her parents through some women who attended a village market at Gidan Waya that the corpse of a lady was discovered at Jengida Village, in Kaduna State.
On hearing this, Hanatu's parents, armed with her picture headed for the police post.
On getting there, it was confirmed that the corpse was hers, and that the case had been transferred to Kafanchan divisional headquarters.
When the parents got to Kafanchan, they were told that the police had to bury the girl because the body was decomposing and that it had sent signals to all police posts and Divisions in Kaduna State to make enquiry if there was complaint about a missing lady and got no reply.
But before she was buried autopsy revealed that Hanatu was strangulated.
Daily Sun learnt that her body was discovered on April 7, still intact, but there were stains of blood from her private part, ears and nose.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Isa Adejoh, who confirmed the story, disclosed that investigation into the matter was still going on.
