The emotive issue of rotational presidency caused a storm at the National Conference on Political Reforms yesterday, and it took the efforts of securitymen to restore calm.

Voices were raised, tables slammed as delegates from the North and South argued over the principle that should guide the rotation of the preside

This led to heated arguments, followed by slamming of the table with the fists, and voices rising beyond normal pitches.

Daily Sun learnt from a member of the committee that the issue may tear the assignment of the committee to shreds.

Committee Chairman, Chukwuemeka Ezeife had no option but to suspend the day's session of the committee for some hours to allow tempers to cool down.

Discussions on the issue became so vexed that members engaged each other in shouting bout, forcing Nicon Hilton hotel security to storm the venue of the committee to prevent a total breakdown of order by the shouting committee members.

This led to heated arguments, followed by slamming of table with the fists, and voices rising beyond normal pitches.

Daily Sun learnt from a member of the committee that the issue may tear the assignment of the committee to shreads.

Committee chairman, Chukwuemeka Ezeife had no option but to suspend the day's session of the committee abruptly for some hours to allow tempers to cool down.
