Three persons, including a pregnant woman were crushed to death when a residential building collapsed in Lagos on Wednesday.
The pregnant woman and other victims suffered the cruel fate when the house in which they reside in Okepopo Street, by Olushi on Lagos Island caved in at about 6.30 p.m.
Many residents of the ill-fated building were still trapped in the rubble as at press time.
The incident sparked pandemonium in the area as neighours made frantic efforts to rescue the victims.
Officials of the Lagos State Ambulance Services (LASAMBUS) and other emergency rescue agencies immediately moved to the scene and began rescue operation.
Daily Sun gathered that the affected area has been cordoned off with the support of law enforcement agents.
Already, no fewer than six unconscious victims rescued from the rubble have been rushed to the Lagos General Hospital.
A senior official of LASAMBUS told Daily Sun that rescue operations would continue till the early hours of Thursday.
According to him, the rescue team would try as much as possible to keep death toll in the tragic incident low.
