Action Congress governorship candidate in the last election, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, has been asked to shut up and stop hallucinating about becoming the governor of Osun State.
The state Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, reacting through his Chief of Staff, Elder Peter Babalola to Aregbesola's statement made on Monday in Lagos that he would be governor in 90 days, said in a statement that only a person suffering from hallucination would make such a claim.
According to the statement, with the stark reality of another defeat staring Aregbesola in the face as his witnesses make statements that are at variance with his claims in his petition, it was surprising that the man had refused to stop day-dreaming.
The statement advised Aregbesola to be sober and stop wasting his remaining resources on voodoo enquiries on his fate at the tribunal.
'Aregbesola has so far called eighty witnesses and none of them was a party agent or an official having anything to do with the election. Not one voter has been called as a witness, yet he is dreaming of becoming governor in 90 days.
'On the two occasions that he has been to the election tribunal, Aregbesola was in the toilet there for over 30 minutes. Doing what? We hope he knows that the power of God is stronger than that of any other being. No voodoo power will make Aregbesola governor, the earlier he knows that, the better for him," he said.
He also accused him of subtly inciting his followers to another round of violence following the judgment of the tribunal in two House of Assembly Petitions, which were not favourable to the AC.
It warned that the law would take care of any trouble-maker, wondering why Aregbesola felt he must foist himself on the state at all costs.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State also during the week accused the state chapter of the Action Congress (AC) of being bad losers.
The State secretary of the PDP, Yinka Adeojo while reacting to a recent claim by the AC in a national newspaper that some exhibits tendered by its governorship candidate, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola were missing, said the only exhibits the AC had with the tribunal were reports from its party agents.
'All exhibits tendered so far by Aregbesola are reports of his polling agents tendered through witnesses who called themselves ward supervisors. As far as we are concerned, these agents' reports are worthless pieces of paper. That is why they are jittery and making wild allegations.
'They already know that their cases are doomed and we sympathise with them, but they are free to weep and sulk without misleading members of the public. In any case, it is public knowledge that all court premises throughout the country have been under lock and key for days now due to judiciary workers' strike, so, how did they know that their so-called 'exhibits" were missing?" the PDP asked.
The party said it was eagerly waiting for the AC to come and tender what it called 'worthless pieces of paper 'being bandied around in Ghana-Must-Go-Bags-just as it expressed surprise that the AC had not brought a single video cassette as exhibit after making so much noise about having same.
