I'll be Osun governor in 90 days - Aregbesola

Action Congress (AC) governorship candidate in the April 2007 election in Osun State, Engr. Rauf Aregbesola on Thursday in Lagos said in another 90 days he would be sworn-in as the governor.

Action Congress (AC) governorship candidate in the April 2007 election in Osun State, Engr. Rauf Aregbesola on Thursday in Lagos said in another 90 days he would be sworn-in as the governor.

As if telling the incumbent governor of the state, Olagunsoye Oyinlola to start packing his bag and baggage and quit within the said period, Aregbesola who was the father of the day at the induction, honour parade and official swearing-in-ceremony of the Man O' War Association, Nigeria, said it would happen.

Speaking at the Eko FM Multi-purpose Hall where the event took place, Aregbesola stressed that some people had the intention of killing the light but it is impossible because God has made it so.
While urging the audience to pray for his success, he charged the members of Man O' War Association to always be vigilant during electoral process to ensure that the democratic value which Nigeria is yearning for is protected.

He also recalled the electoral malpractices and bloodletting which took place in his state.
When Daily Sun cornered him after the event to ascertain his source of assurance that he would become the governor of the state within 90 days, he attributed it to divine will of God: 'It is not the wish of man but the wish of God. God has said so. It is God that said and will do it," Aregbesola said.
Meanwhile, Lagas State Governor. Babatunde Fashola (SAN) who was one of the inductee (new grand patron) but represented by the state Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr. Kola Kisali, said in his speech that his government would tremendously encourage and support the association to achieve its developmental goals in the country.

He also stressed that since the majority live at the grassroots level, there is need for government when implementing policies and programmes to create greater awareness among the populace.
Fashola said: 'Man O' War was formed to complement government's efforts at disseminating information and sensitizing the members of the public particularly our rural populace."
The president of Man O' war Lagos State, Innocent Okere noted that Man O' War Association is a Federal Government-owned organization under supervision of the citizenship and leadership training center (C&L.T.C.), which he said was established by Decree 38 of December 11, 1989 (which is now an act of the National Assembly). Okere appealed for government's support, arguing that it is only Man O' War, Lagos State that has no office and vehicles for official duties.
