Chief Afe Babalola, counsel to ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo, on Friday, poured vituperations on his critics as he tagged them 'bastards," for saying he has not cotributed to the development of Ekiti State.

He made the statement at his investiture as the 'Grand Cutodian" of Nigeria Polytechnic Games, a honour bestowed upon him by the authorities of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti in preparation for the games to be hosted by the institution in April.

Afe, who boasted that his contribution to the development of the state was priceless, said he had made up his mind not to assist the state anymore but for the several plea of Governor Segun Oni.
He said he had no regret being associated with Oni who he described as an achiever and gave him a pass mark for his performance since the inception of his administration.

Afe disclosed that he put to stake his legal fee running to about Five Million pounds, which was owed him by the Federal Government, to have the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti transferred from Akure.
He explained his role in making the creation of Ekiti State come to fruition as he held several meetings with some indigenes of the state.

'I am not saying I am a saint, we can make mistake as a human being but people should be constructively criticized in most cases," he said.

I have done my best for the state, but some people who were bastards had been maligning my person that i have not done anything for the state. 'I had to forgo close to five million pounds , being the legal fee the federal government owed me for the federal government to establish the federal polytechnic here in Ado Ekiti, that is why I had always been doing my best for the institution.

'Some people said I was associating with Governor Oni, why should I not, this man is a man of distinction. He is focused, has ideas, determined to revamp the dead sectors rather than distributing rice to people the way some people did, selfless and patriotic., so I have no reason not to support him
'I know the importance of sports in any nation, so I would contribute heavily to ensure that the hosting of the festival is successful to bring out the best in our youths," he stated.

Governor Oni was also invested as the Grand Patron of the NIPOGA which is tagged 'Ado Ewi 2008." Oni explained that hosting the games would enable the grassroots talents that are wasting away to be tapped to the optimum level as well as boosting the economy of the state as more money would be brought by over 55 participating institutions.
