As the rift between Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State and his predecessor Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani continues to raise dust in Enugu State, the governor Friday declared that his government is rock solid; 'We are not only in power but we are effectively in charge."

The governor's statement is coming on the heels of the declaration by the immediate past deputy governor of the state, Mr. Okechukwu Itanyi, that the achievements of Governor Sullivan Chime in seven months is far above what he and his boss, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani could boast of in eight years.

Chime, who addressed a mammoth crowd of who gathered at the Okpara square to show support to his government noted that anything on the contrary is only but a rumour by 'mischief makers and enemies of our state."

'Their only worry is the refreshing change we have brought to governance and the happiness in the faces of our people. I see this gesture not just as a re-affirmation of your mandate, but a vote of confidence on our activities so far."

He expressed appreciation to the people for their concern and worries following events of the past few weeks in the state and assured them that there is no cause for alarm, 'We shall weather the storm and consign the distraction to the dust bin of history."

The governor also at the rally proscribed the use of the slogan; ‘Ebeano' popularized by his predecessor, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani, citing article 3 of the PDP constitution which states that the slogan of the party shall be, PDP-Power to the People; warning that whoever deviates would face the wrath of the law.
