Kogi polls nullification: I'll win again - Idris

Ex-Kogi State governor, Idris Ibrahim, has assured his supporters of coming back to his seat whenever an election takes place in the next 90 days, stressing: 'if the governorship election in Kogi State would take place 10 times, I am sure of landslide victory, In-sha-Allah."

Ex-Kogi State governor, Idris Ibrahim, has assured his supporters of coming back to his seat whenever an election takes place in the next 90 days, stressing: 'if the governorship election in Kogi State would take place 10 times, I am sure of landslide victory, In-sha-Allah."

In an exclusive chat with Daily Sun, after having a closed-door meeting with the Senate president on Wednesday, Idris, whose chain of security escorts had already disappeared, also stated that as a law-abiding citizen. 'We have accepted the verdict of the tribunal, but we are going to be seen at the poll again during the next governorship election."

'The decision is okay by me, so we are getting ready to go for the election and there is no cause for alarm, we are confident that we have the party, the people and the good intention toward making Kogi a great state any day. And we are sure the victory is ours, thank you very much."

Also reacting, Senator Smart Adeyemi (Kogi West), told newsmen at the Senate that with the PDP controlling 80 per cent of the voters in Kogi State, the judgment would only be a leeway for governor Idris to remain in power for one more year, as he would start afresh when elected in the next 90 days.
'Question of fielding governor Idris to re-contest is even an understatement, and whenever the election comes, nothing will affect his popularity, in fact, even those who were not PDP supporters, would now sympathize with the party and the PDP will still win the election, I am not in doubt about that," Smart insisted.

'You should also know that we are going to be behind governor Idris when that time comes, else why are we senators? It is a very wrong notion to think that because the election was annulled, another party will now win, no! We are very much on ground, and don't forget that winning election is not an assignment of one individual.

'I am a PDP senator and I am very much in control of the situation in my own constituency, and it will be naïve to assume that as a senator of PDP, I will allow any party to win in that state, no way, you hear no way!" he added.

But for Senator Otaru Salihu Ohize (AC Kogi Central), the removal of Governor Idris 'is a welcome development, because it has been long overdue, considering the fact that Kogi State has not known peace for long because of the desperation of Ibro's government to perpetuate illegality and crime in the state."

The Action Congress, he said, was going to field its candidate for the governorship race, 'as there would now be peace in the state, pointing out, however, that 'the governor had bought guns and there were assassination attempts in the West and Central parts of the state, with numerous PDP thugs attacking people indiscriminately."
