Presidential candidate of the Progressive Peoples Alliance in the April 2007 polls (PPA), and immediate past governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu has alerted President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua of the danger inherent in not probing the administration of ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo.

He said should Yar'Adua fail to follow the people's expectation on the probe, he may soon incur their wrath, stressing that he would join other democratic forces to move the people to the streets for mass protests.
Fielding questions from journalists shortly after attending a thanksgiving service in honour of former PPA's governorship candidate in Lagos, Chief (Mrs) Remi Adiukwu-Bakare, at the Anglican Church of Ascension, Opebi area of Ikeja, Kalu described Obasanjo's probe as inevitable for any government that wants the support of the people.
His words: 'I'm happy that Nigerians are seeing that former president Obasanjo misappropriated more money than any other living president on earth. When seven years ago, I said President Obasanjo was corrupt, nobody believed me but today all can see.
'To be honest with you, if President Yar'Adua refuses to prosecute Obasanjo, we will march on the streets, we will call out the people on the streets to show him how serious we are because it will be ridiculous to allow Obasanjo get away with his crimes against the whole country.
'We will do it, I mean it, and President Yar'Adua and everybody can see what is happening in Kenya now. That is the will of the people. We can see what is happening all over the world, we have no guns, we have no knives, we have no thugs but we have the people with us and we will march them out on the streets.
'With the enormous wealth Obasanjo has, he needs to be probed and I'm not talking of probe by the EFCC or ICPC. I'm talking of independent panel of enquiry to probe him. A panel composed of serving Supreme Court judges so that we can have fair hearing on what happened with the refineries, the NNPC, power and steel sector, privatization, where billions of dollars went down without trace or results.
'These people wasted money claiming they were building roads, restoring power, restoring the health sector. If not for the state governors they are prosecuting today, there wouldn't have been any development in Nigeria for eight years. Go to Abia, go to Ekiti, go to Enugu or even Ogun and others, the Federal Government didn't do anything there and the people are crying. So, where are the monies budgeted for all these things?"
Kalu, who is also the chairman of PPA's Board of Trustees says he knows so much about Obasanjo, and that is why the former president will always accuse him of being behind his travails.
'Obasanjo knows I know all his tricks that is why he keeps accusing me all the time of being behind his travails including his latest domestic scandal," he stated.
On the bombshell dropped by Senator Nuhu Aliyu that there are fraudsters in the National Assembly, Kalu said: 'Senator Aliyu is in a position to know. He was a DIG in the Criminal Investigation Department at the Force Headquarters, so he knows them and that is the root of the problem of our society."
