Alleged sex scandal: Obasanjo has up to Jan 27 to resign as BOT chairman - Daboh

Assistant National Auditor (North Central) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Godwin Daboh Adzuana, has threatened to sue former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo if by January 27 he fails to resign as the party's Board of Trustees (BOT) chairman.

Daboh vowed to get a court order declaring Obasanjo an unfit and improper person for the exalted position should he ignore the ultimatum.
Besides this, he said disgrace and shame awaited the former president at the party's forthcoming convention, if he remained recalcitrant.

Fielding questions from a senior editorial team of The Sun Publishing Company Ltd on Monday, Daboh noted that the move became necessary following series of alleged sexual and financial scandals trailing Obasanjo's tenure. He stated that it would be immoral to further trust Obasanjo with any strategic leadership position.

Daboh disclosed that when he got a whiff of the sex scandal last month, he had written a letter to Obasanjo on the need for him to resign as BOT chairman, adding that the ultimatum given to the former president would expire on Sunday, January 27.
The politician said he got wind of the alleged sex scandal while on the sick bed in England, stressing that he immediately wrote the former president, advising him to resign to save himself from disgrace.
He said: "On December 28, I was in England in a hospital and a young medical doctor who was a classmate of Obasanjo's son came with one of my children and he started telling me about Gbenga and his father.

"After he had finished, I wrote a letter to General Obasanjo, telling him that with what I had heard about him and his daughter-in-law, I would advise him to resign as chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT), because I'm the Assistant National Auditor of the PDP and I knew with that scandal, we will not allow him to remain as chairman of the Board of Trustees.
"So I gave him 30 days within which to resign. That ultimatum expires on the 27 of this month. So, I am re-affirming that request I made to him.

"What I'm saying here is that Obasanjo cannot continue to be chairman of the Board of Trustees. If by January 27 he has not resigned, I will take him to court and get an order that he's not a fit and proper person to be chairman of PDP Board of Trustees.
"I am still the Assistant National Auditor of the PDP, North Central zone, and I cannot go to a meeting where that man will sit and preside over me. He has lost everything. Let him go and enjoy his money. He should leave the PDP alone. We don't need him in the PDP."

Daboh also spoke on other issues including the alleged preparation of his friend and political mentor, former military president, Ibrahim Babangida for the presidential race, revelations about Obasanjo's fabulous wealth and Babangida's long kept secret on the reason he annulled the June 12, 1993 presidential election.
