Odioma murder:The Killers came in a white boat~ Witness

A witness testifying before a judicial commission set up by the Bayelsa State Government has narrated how the killers who assassinated the four councilors and eight other community leaders carried out the mission.

A witness testifying before a judicial commission set up by the Bayelsa State Government has narrated how the killers who assassinated the four councilors and eight other community leaders carried out the mission.

The man, one Fiberesima who is married to one of the sisters of late Clever Osei believed to be the leader of the Teme cult told the Justice Moore Adumein commission that the assassins who snuffed live from the councilors arrived first and asked them at the fishing port if they had cited the government boat.
Fiberesima, an Okrikan with a Nembe mother from Bassambiri who spoke through out through an interpreter disclosed that the killers came in a white boat
When it turned out from their inquiry that the boat had not passed the settlement, the killers numbering about 10 laid-in-wait for their victims.

He said that when the boat came by, the killers struck, terminating the lives of their victims and later took away the government boat in which they were returning with them.

Fiberesima said he could recognize the killers and reeled out the names of the suspected murderers in the court room.

Lawyers for the defence engaged Fiberesima, picking holes in his testimony as they tried to ascertain how he could have seen everything from where he was positioned.

The four councilors and other community leaders were murdered on their way back from a so-called peace meeting that was expected to end the feud caused by the decision of one of the major oil exploiting companies to build a flow station.

Since the incident occurred, the remains of the men who were traveling in the boat have not been seen.

The issue sparked off national reactions especially after the army moved into Odioma in hot pursuit of members of the Teme cult, forcing the Senate to despatch a team hurriedly to Bayelsa State to conduct public hearing.
With a commission in place, most Bayelsans hope the riddle surrounding the sudden disappearance of community leaders, including four councilors would be broken.
