The International Organization for Sustainable Development (IOSD), a non governmental organization, has urged the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Alhaji Aliyu Modibbo Umar, to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations of sexual harassment leveled against the Deputy Director in charge of the FCT Directorate of Road Traffic Services, Alhaji Aminu Iro, by one of his female subordinates.

The International Organization for Sustainable Development (IOSD), a non governmental organization, has urged the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Alhaji Aliyu Modibbo Umar, to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations of sexual harassment leveled against the Deputy Director in charge of the FCT Directorate of Road Traffic Services, Alhaji Aminu Iro, by one of his female subordinates.
Miss Maryam Adebola Marcus, a personnel of the agency otherwise known as Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) had, in a recent exclusive interview with Sunday Sun, narrated her tale of woes in the hands of her boss in the office, whom she accused of victimization in a bid to intimidate her into accepting his proposal to become his fourth wife.
Specifically, Maryam had accused the deputy director of demanding sex with her in a rest room inside his office on two occasions, and threatening to terminate her appointment when she turned down his amorous advances.
Apparently jolted by the scathing allegations, IOSD petitioned the FCT minister, calling for a probe into the issue. The petition signed by the organization's Head of Mission, Dr. Timothy Ihemadu, a copy of which was made available to Daily Sun, reads in part:
'We bring to your notice the sex scandal currently rocking the Directorate of Road Traffic Service popularly called Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) Abuja . The victim having escaped being locked up in cell was brought to our organization in tears and traumatized, seeking for help.
'Our findings in the alleged sexual harassment case are that the fundamental human rights of a citizen of this country were violated and this calls for urgent action. We request that you use your good office to cause the set up of an independent complaint committee to deal with this case of sexual harassment."
