The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Bauchi State on Monday said it had arrested 18 motorists, who violated traffic rules during the Sallah celebration.
The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Bauchi State on Monday said it had arrested 18 motorists, who violated traffic rules during the Sallah celebration.
The Sector Commander, Mr Godwin Amatah who spoke in Bauchi said that the offenders were arrested on Bauchi-Jos, Bauchi-Gombe and Bauchi-Maiduguri roads.
He said that about six vehicles were impounded, while the culprits were prosecuted by the commission's Mobile Court.
The Sector Commander urged road users to observe the basic road signs and rules to avoid accidents, particularly during the yuletide period.
He also said that the command had mapped out effective strategy to ensure an accident-free Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Amatah pointed out that arrangements were on to deploy about 270 personnel and road marshals to the major highways within and outside the state.
He stressed that the command would ensure strict compliance with the use of safety belt, speed limit and road worthiness of vehicles.
The FRSC chief, however, warned motorists against dangerous driving, over speeding and over-loading to reduce carnage on the roads during the festive period.
