Father of Bayelsa State Deputy Governor and Alei of Alebiri, Chief Simon Ebebi, who was recently set free by kidnappers, says the criminals abducted him without his clothes on.
Narrating his traumatic experience, Chief Ebebi said seven boys came into his room on the fateful day and forcefully seized him despite the fact that he was naked. He revealed that his mouth was gagged as he was dragged on the road, and, in the process sustained bruises all over his body.
Chief Ebebi, who was released by the kidnappers last Thursday, said: 'The boys demanded money but I had none to give them, and they had to move me from one location to the other till I was released."
Meanwhile, one of the suspects in the kidnap saga of the deputy governor's father, Ayibakuro, has disclosed that he was contacted by one Commander Osian and three others from Ogodobiri community, in Delta State, about the kidnap. He confirmed that seven boys participated in the kidnap using one speedboat and three guns.
He listed the names of other members of his gang as Inimo Akpika from Kassama town, David Ologbenka from Kokologbene and Ebri Abiri Abraham from Egema Angalabiri, all border communities between Delta and Bayelsa states.
Ayibakuro said that after the kidnap, Chief Ebebi was first taken to a community in Delta State, before he was moved to Sekpetoru in Bayelsa State.
Ebri Abiri Abraham, another member of the gang, disclosed that the motive of the kidnap was to obtain money as he was promised N200,000 by Commander Osian to show the gang the navigational routes in the creeks.
Augustine Festus, who also confessed to the crime, said he was in charge of the arms, which he said included two pump-action rifles and one hand-made gun. He disclosed that the seven boys went up to the house of Chief Ebebi while he waited for them in the boat.
The leader of the militant group that secured the release of Chief Ebebi, who refused to disclose his name, said his group would not hand over the kidnappers because they had already been punished.
According to him, the boys are their Ijaw brothers and have been tortured and given appropriate punishments to serve as a warning to others planning to kidnap people.
