Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Patricia Etteh, appeared before the Independent Corrupt Practices and Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on Wednesday and was grilled for over six hours over her role in the N628 million contracts scandal which led to her fall from office.
Daily Sun gathered that about two weeks ago, Speaker of the House, Hon Dimeji Bankole, appealed to the anti-corruption agency to give his predecessor more time before she would appear before it.
Hon Etteh, who arrived at the ICPC office on Constitution Avenue, at 12 noon, was quizzed by men of the agency till 6pm.
Former Deputy Speaker, Hon Babaginda Nguruoje, is billed to take his turn on the hot seat over the same contract scam next week.
Daily Sun gathered that House Leader, Hon Tunde Akogun, other principal officers, who served during the Etteh tenure and the management staff of the National Assembly responsible for the lower House had been questioned over the incident.
Sources in ICPC told Daily Sun that the former speaker denied all the allegations against her.
The investigating panel will submit its report after interrogating the former deputy speaker, and would then determine whether or not they would be charged to court on accusation of corruption.
The on-going investigation was initiated as a result of a petition by member of the House of Representatives, Hon Emmanuel Deeyah, to the ICPC.
