Cop who beat up ASP for trial

The orderly room trial of a police corporal who beat up an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) at the Satellite Police division begins today.

The orderly room trial of a police corporal who beat up an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) at the Satellite Police division begins today.

Corporal Eboho Omoikhu was said to have pounced on ASP Ade Adedehin on December 1, giving him the beaten of his life. Eboho was said to have also torn the uniform of the ASP.

Daily Sun gathered that trouble started when a complainant came to lodge a report and Eboho was made the investigating police officer (IPO) for the case. He was alleged to have attempted to collect money from the suspect. However, the superior officer had kicked against the idea. Even when the complainant later came forward to say he was no longer interested in making a case, Eboho was said to have refused to let go.

When ASP Ade threatened to put him in the cell for insurbodination, the corporal banged the officer’s table and allegedly told the superior officer that he would die in a car accident if he dared to put him in a cell.
Eye-witness account claimed: “Even when the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) came out, Eboho didn’t care. He held he ASP by the collar of his uniform and a fight ensued. We were among the crowd that gathered. This sort of thing would never happen in the military.”

Daily Sun further learned that Eboho has a penchant for challenging superior officers and always had a way of getting away with his insolence. Already some serving and retired Commissioners of Police (CP) outside Lagos State had already started asking for the corporal to be pardoned again. Eboho orderly room trial will, however, start today at the Satellite police division.
Attempt by Daily Sun to have a chat with the DPO was unsuccessful as he was said to have gone on patrol.
