End of the road for drug traffickers

The future now looks bleak for a 30-year-old man, who had lived in Spain for nine years, as he has been nabbed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for drug trafficking.

The suspect, Joseph Alfred, was arrested while attempting to board an Iberia aircraft to Galicia in Spain.
Alfred, who vomited 10 wraps of cocain, claimed he came into the country to process his e-passport but later yielded to the pressure from his friend in Spain to traffick in drugs.
"I agreed to carry the drugs for 4,000 Euros. I thought of doing it for some stupid reasons. I threw up some of the drugs because I was nervous."

The suspect, who holds two Diploma certificates in Computer Science and Public Administration, is from Delta State. He had been in Spain for nine years and working in a construction company. The suspect is also married to a Spanish.

However, Alfred is not the only one fielding questions from operatives of NDLEA. Also in the hot seats are, Anuge Augustine, 35 and Onwumere Hezekiah Dennis, 44. Both men were held in connection with drug trafficking offences.

Augustine was apprehended during the screening of passengers on KLM Flight from Lagos to Amsterdam.
The suspect, who excreted 55 wraps of hard drugs, claimed his friend, who is based in Spain, lured him into the illegal business. He said: "A friend I met in Spain lured me into the stupid act. I married in April and I am preparing her papers to join me in Spain when this incident happened."

The Edo State-born Augustine is a Business Administration graduate of Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma, Edo State. He is said to be working in a plastic recycling company in Spain and was going back there after a brief visit to Nigeria when nemesis caught up with him.
Dennis was nabbed while trying to board Air France from Lagos to Paris. He had excreted 61 wraps of hard drugs.

A visibly shaking Dennis, who hails from Anambra State, said he would have been paid 4,000 Euro if the trip was successful, adding that fate had other plans for him.
The NDLEA commander at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Mr. Victor Coleshowers, said the suspects were still under observation. He said the suspects would likely excrete or vomit more wraps of the illicit drugs.
