Dada Olalekan who was sent behind bars felt he had come to the end of the road when his plans to kill his wife, Monica, failed. In the cell as he awaited trial Dada was said to have been caught hitting his head on the iron bar, the barricade around the cell.

When the prison warden comes around he would stop and pretend as if nothing was happening while he was actually bleeding to death. But his fellow inmate who felt worried raised an alarm and he was stopped. He said he felt bad for what he tried to do to his wife and therefore chose to end it all. What it means is that he intendcd to commit suicide. But unfortunately for him, as it was with the attempt to kill his wife, he failed again. He was thereafter arraigned before the Ikorodu magistrate's court for attempting to commit suicide.

Other men's attraction
Dada who resided at No. 23 Ashomowu Street, Gbagada, Lagos, had been married to his lovely wife Monica for years before things became so bad. He later noticed that his lovely wife had become a source of attraction to other men. To confirm his fear, they would stop and engage her in an idle talk. This infuriated him that whenever he confronts his wife, she would ask him to work hard as he had several rivals whom she was ready to follow if the hapless man failed to meet his responsibility.
Things degenerated between the couple till Dada drove his wife out of their home. 'When she became unbearable, we fought repeatedly and this led me throwing her things away during one of the scuffle" Monica went home with her kids and had been there till, Dada came calling.

Wanted her back
When Dada had tried his hands on different women it dawned on him that Monica was still the best. ' I made up my mind to bring her back before all these useless men would take her away from me for life." Dada made all attempts to convince her to return but Monica refused. Annoyed he went to his in-laws house with the intention to drag her home with or without her consent. ' I met her at home peeling yam. I tried begging her but she insisted that she had made up her mind to re-marry. She tried to use the knife to scare me and I warned her to stay away as I was capable of killing her. She said that she had wanted to die so I decided to help her out. I took the knife to help her out when neighbours came and separated us."

I deserve to die
Dada was immediately arrested and arraigned. He was remanded in the prison pending when the case would be decided. ' In the prison cell, it dawned on me that if I remain here, my wife would be taken from me for good. So I decided to die. First I asked God to forgive me for trying to kill my wife but should allow me to die instead.

Eve deceived my husband
According to his wife Monica, Dada's attitude towards her and the children suddenly changed. This she said was as a result of a woman who had been deceiving her husband. When life became unbearable she packed out of her husband's house to live with her mother at Ikorodu. She was outside peeling yam one day when Dada came insisting that she was to follow him home. Monica refused. At that point Dada started beating her. 'He took the knife from me and started stabbing me when people stopped him", she explained.
